March Reflection

Today we were reflecting on our work from march. We do this to remember what we do in our class in one month. I enjoyed reflecting on my work because it made me think of all my memories from this month. I found it tricky to change the background because google drawings don't have the option so I had to double click to find it. Next time I would change the sentence because I had lots of good ones.

Te Kuri A Paoa

This week for art we have been learning how to experiment with colour and blend. We only had one shade of green which was dark green but we also needed a light green so I chose to do blue and yellow and it made a perfect colour. Also, my white did not look bright on the black paper so I did white and pink for the stripes on Young Nicks Head in the background. For the background I used blue and purple to make it look like a beautiful night sky complete with maori patterns and stars. For the yellow on the dog I used orange, yellow and white. For the brown on the dog I used brown, orange and white. I enjoyed drawing the dog because it was nice and easy but I did some tiny mistakes. I found it tricky to colour in the night sky because it was so big and I had to do it twice in the two different colours. Next time I would change the size of the mouth because I made it very small so it looked a bit weird.

Optical Illusion

This week we have been learning how to make connections between what we read. We had to read articles about optical illusions and watch a couple of videos as well. I have already made a optical illusion here but I wanted to do a harder type of it. So I traced my hand instead of a bowl. I enjoyed shading to make it look 3-D because it made it look better than it already was. I found it tricky to trace my hand because it is way harder than it sounds! Next time I would try to trace something else because it would look way cooler.

Term 1 Goals 2021

Today we were filling out our goals for Term 1 2021. I enjoyed writing in my goals because I could write what I wanted to do and If I do it, I can put a tick next to it! I found it tricky to find out which character I was because most of them sounded like me. So I chose Hinehakirirangi because she challenges herself and persiveres. Next time I would change my learning goal to reading so I could improve on comprehension. I will ask my Whanau to fill it out as well then I will update my blog. Here it is: 

My favourite hobby

Today for cybersmart, we had to use mote for our google slides. Mote is an app on google slides that records our voice. I enjoyed making the slides because I got to talk about my favourite thing to do. I found it tricky to use mote because it was too loud for me so it took a while. Next time I would change the background on my second slide because I could not do it today because I would have to remove the background of all my images to do so. Here is my slide:

   

Moo-moo - My favourite toy

Two weeks ago we were learning how to describe using metaphors. I forgot to blog this before so I am blogging it today when I have free time. My toy Moo-moo is a chocolate-smelling moose from Alaska. I have 11 Moo-moos that I can count and they are all different sizes. I enjoyed writing about Moo-moo because I know him very vividly and It was easier to describe him if I know him. I found it tricky to put it on canva because I have not logged onto canva in a while. Next time I would try to blog it faster.

Sea Week!

This week is sea week. So for my homework this week I had to make a GIF about sea creatures. I used tall tweets to make it into a GIF from my slides. I also drew my favourite seacreture for a bonus. My favourite fish is an Anglerfish. What's yours? I learnt that angler fish are in the top 10 most dangerous fish. I enjoyed finding information about sea creatures because there were loads of very interesting facts. i found it tricky to add images to my slide because most of the images were very inappropriate. Next time I would change it so that the images were not that big because I could have fit way more facts. Here is my GIF:

Pollution is bad for the ocean!

For the last 2 weeks we have been learning to make connections between what we read. We had to make a jamboard on some wow facts on some digital sticky notes. Did you know, plastic is in our food, water, honey and even salt? I learnt that glitter is plastic. I enjoyed watching the videos because they were easy to watch but a little bit hard to understand. I found it tricky to ad a sticky note to the jamboard because lots of people kept moving it, deleting it and changing its size. Next time I would change the speech bubble in the first slide because it does not look good with pink on green.

The Earthquake

Today there was an earthquake at 2:27 am. I could feel it pretty well from where I was. My family was in the tsunami alert place so we had to get to high ground. I wrote a small but true story about it and I put it on some slides. I enjoyed writing the story because I already knew what to put in there because I was there. I found it tricky to find an image because there were not many that I could find. Next time I would change the background on the 2nd slide because it is hard to read off the colour yellow.

Treaty of Waitangi

Today we were sorting parts of the story of the treaty of waitangi. We got to work in groups and I got put with Oliva S, Seddon and Luke. The times were 1814 to September 1840.  We had to sort the facts into which year or month they were in. I enjoyed cutting the pieces out because it was nice and easy and I got lots of help from the people in my group. I found it tricky to find out one of them because it kept showing the wrong thing. So I put it in the time that had none. Next time I would try to make it look more clear because you can't really read it.

Pie Charts on google sheets!

For the last 2 weeks, we have been learning to gather and display data. We had to gather data about a question we want to ask and write it on a google sheet. Lastly we had to make a chart then post it on our blog.  I have made a screencastify on how to do it that I will put in my blog after my sheet. I enjoyed asking questions because it helped me learn about all my classmates. I found it tricky to find out how to make the chart show data because it kept saying 'NO DATA'. Next time I would change it to a bar chart because I find them easier to read.

Chinese New Year

Today I was catching up with homework and I was learning about my Chinese New Year. I had to write about my chinese zodiac, what it's characteristics are and if we live up to them. Did you know, I was born in the year of the tiger? I enjoyed colouring my slide because I wanted it to catch people's eyes. I found it tricky to find an image labeled for reuse of the chinese new year animals because most of them were not labeled for reuse. Maybe next time I would try to finish it faster.

My culture and me!

Today I was catching up with homework and I was learning about my culture and me. I had to write about my two sides of my family and where they come from. Did you know, I am 50% Irish? I learnt that I am 25% british. I enjoyed colouring my slide because I wanted it to catch people's eyes. I found it tricky to find an image labeled for reuse of the flags because most of them were not labeled for reuse. Maybe next time I would try to finish it faster.

Prayer

Today I was learning about prayer and what it means. We had to make a slide on what prayer is, where you can do it and we could even wright own prayer! Did you know, you can pray everyday? I learnt that praying could be for lots of reasons. I enjoyed making a background because there was so much to choose from! I found it tricky to find pictures because most of them were inappropriate. Next time I would change the prayer font because I forgot to change it when writing it. Here is my slide:
