Avondale Spider And The Katipo Spider

Today I was learning how to combine sources of information with developing confidence to identify, form, and express ideas.
I found it easy to find a image of a Katipo to copy of the internet.
I found it tricky to find facts about Avondale spiders.
Next time i will change colours of Avondale spider.
My digital learning object shows that I can take photos and post them on my blog.

About the Avondale:
There is a statue in a suburb called Avondale in the west Auckland. Scientific name: Delena Cancerides. Phylum: Arthropoda. Order: Spider. Rank: Species. Species: D. Cancerides. Family: Sparassidae. Genus: Delena. They are harmless to humans. 300 Avondale spiders were used in the movie arachnophobia because they are harmless to HUMANS!

About the Katipo:
Scientific name: Latrodectus Katipo. Rank: Species. Species: L. Katipo. Higher Classification: Widow Spiders. Genus: latrodectus. Family: Theridiidae. Phylum: Arthropoda. THE KATIPO IS VENOMOUS TO HUMANS! VERY DANGEROUS!

  1. Hola Kylah,
We used to find katipo spiders under driftwood at the beach - it always gave me a fright to see them. Why would you change the colours of the Avondale spider if you did this again?
