The Amazing Race 3

Today for Inquiry we were doing The Amazing Race Episode 2. The Amazing Race is a series of challenges about Japan. My family just did two more and got 20 more points. Now we have 37 points from episode 2. From both we now have 66 points from both episode 1 & 2. We had to do a task where we made  I enjoyed playing because my family and I were having fun. I found it tricky to wrap myself in toilet paper because it kept ripping. We just never gave up and finished! Here it is:

The Amazing Race 2

Today for Inquiry we were doing The Amazing Race Episode 2. The Amazing Race is a series of challenges about Japan. My Sister Lily and I did three of the tasks and got 17 points. We had to do things like drawing blindfolded to spotting the difference in two pictures. I enjoyed playing because my sister and I were having fun. I found it tricky to draw blindfolded because I could not see what I was doing and accidentally drew on the table. After the video I washed it off and now it is fine. Here it is:

Paralympic Games

Today we were learning about the Paralympic games. The Paralympic games are on at the moment and NZ is doing great! I enjoyed learning about the Paralympic games because they are really nice to the people with no legs or arms or any thing different to other people and they are just as good as the people doing the Olympic games. I found it tricky to find information because the Olympics are more popular. It is a good thing my teacher found some videos. Here is my 5 facts:

August Reflection

Today for Inquiry we were doing our August Reflection. We need to do it every month because we can sit there and remember what we did. Have you done a monthly reflection? I enjoyed learning this month because I learnt a whole lot of stuff! I found it tricky to think of what I need to practice in maths because I have learnt lots in maths. But I struggle with long division so I wrote that down. Here it is:

St Luke

Today for R.E we were learning about Saints. I learnt about St Luke. I enjoyed learning about St Luke because it was new learning for me. I found it tricky to put it in my own words because there were lots of words I did not know. So I searched some up and they came up so I could understand it. Here it is:

Well Being Sign Language

Today we were learning how to stay well being during lockdown. We had to roll a dice then do one of the three tasks in the row of the number we rolled. I learnt how to say thank you, all done and see you later in sign language. I enjoyed learning how to do sign language because it was new learning for me. I found it tricky to embed the videos because I forgot how to for a tiny bit. I remembered how to do it after a bit. Here are my videos:

Cicada

Today I was learning how to apply knowledge and how to code on Scratch. We coded animations and mine was about cicadas. The instructions are green flag, space, up then down I enjoyed getting to code again because I have not coded in ages. I found it tricky to code them because again I have not coded in ages. Here is my Cicada Animation:

Escape Room Maths

Today we did a maths task that was pretty hard. But some of the answers were either not there or would make the word weird. In question 6 the answer is 17. It is how many nails are left over. The answer that they came up with was 108 which was how many have been used but the question asks how many are left. In question 11 it asks how many pieces were left over there would be two slices in each box x 12 = 24. That would give an E. I think the question that they were wanting to ask was how many were eaten which would be 72 and that would give an R to make it say maths master. Not maths mastee. I enjoyed doing the maths because it was challenging my brain. I found it tricky to answer some of them because they did not make sense. So I did what anybody else would do. Come back to it. Here is my code from the slides

Recycled Paper

Yesterday I made recycled paper with my sister and mum with old scrap paper we were not using. This took a while because the drying process usually takes a day but we shortened it by using a blow drying it. I enjoyed making it because it was up cycling and it was lots of fun. I found it tricky to not make it crack because we did not compact it enough.  So next time we do it we will compact it more. Here is a slide on the instructions:

Blog Log

Here is my slides and reflection:

I have blogged this week 14 times! This is number 15!
Here are the two links I promised:

Mousing Around

Today I was wondering what to do and I came across this site: Mousing Around. I thought this was pretty cool and finished the whole thing. I enjoyed playing the game because it tested my mind and was easy to play. I found it tricky to do some of them because I had to click the one with a link. That ment I had to search with my mouse because when you hover over a link your mouse will turn to a hand. Try that out in the link I put! So I made sure I payed attention. Here is the certificate I got:

Snails

Today we have nothing to blog. So I wanted to do something. I wrote a big fact file about snails. I enjoyed writing about them because I used to love them. Also it was new learning for me. I found it tricky to find what it ate because it would just say the same thing. "They eat almost everything." I clicked on a few more sites and more information came up. Here it is:

Snails

Snails are known as Pest. To me, a pet. I used to pick them up at daycare and try to take them home. ( I was not allowed! ) But I thought I should share some cool facts about them. Here we go:

Diet

A snail is actually herbivorous, carnivorous, omnivorous, and detritivorous. So they eat pretty much everything. Here are a few examples of what they eat. Worms, vegetation, rotting vegetation, animal waste, fungus, and even other snails.

Habitat

It usually lives in forests but is also found near rivers, streams, shrublands, and gardens. To help them survive in these hot and humid conditions, this snail has adapted to it. Snails have made their habitat all over the world, including the Arctic and Antarctic oceans.

Wow Facts

A snail can sleep for three years. They might be the inspiration for cupid. The world's smallest snail can fit through the eye of a needle

Did you know halve of a sphere is a Hemi-Sphere? I found it tricky to learn the Octogonal Pyramid because I thought it was just a pyramid. So I studied a bit more and got it. Here is my work:

Why Plastic is Bad for the Ocean

This week for reading we have been learning how to Apply Knowledge. If you want to know why I am blogging so much, you might not know, The whole of New Zealand is in a second lock down. So I have new tasks ( at least three ) Every school day! I made a slide about why Plastic is bad for the Ocean. Did you know, that in the middle of the ocean there is an island made of plastic? I enjoyed learning about the pollution because it was new learning for me. I found it tricky to get images because lots were copywrite. So I looked a bit harder and found six photos that were good enough. Here is my slides:

Writing Journal

This week for writing we have been learning how to summarize. We had to fill out a journal one task per day. I chose to do a six sentence story. It is about a grasshopper named Hugo. Read my story to learn more. I enjoyed writing the story because I love writing books. I found it tricky to come up with a fifth sentence because It was about how they felt. It was a sad situation so I made him sad. Here it is:

Grasshopper out of Nature

This week for art I had to make art out of plants and sticks. So I took some sticks, leaves, flowers and long grass then I made a Grasshopper. (I Love Bugs!) I used Sticks for legs, long grass for the body, flowers for the eyes and avocado tree leaves for the wings. I enjoyed making the grasshopper because I made something in nature OUT of nature. I found it tricky to find that stuff I wanted to use because there was not must on our lawn. Here it is:

Volcano Experiment

Today we did a science experiment. We needed vinegar and Baking soda. When they mixed up and it made a chemical reaction. We called it the volcano. I enjoyed learning about it because it was lots of new learning. I found it tricky to create my mountain because it was crumbling lots. So I got it wet and it stuck better. Next time I would use different materials. Here it is:

Composting

This week for writing we were learning how to structure our writing into paragraphs. We wrote about composting. If you want to know what composting is, you can read my writing.  I enjoyed learning about composting because it was new learning for me. I found it tricky to write because I kept getting distracted. So I tried to not get distracted and here it is:

Composting

What do you want to do to save the planet? Well, Composting is a great way to start.

What is it?

Composting is when you get together yard and kitchen rubbish and put them together with water and bugs like worms and fungi like mushrooms and they make it into soil that has nutrients.

How is it made?

It is made from Apple cores, dead leaves, Bread crusts, grass clippings, rotten fruit, dead flowers. So on. There are two types of compost rubbish. Green and Brown. Green is like fruit, veg and others from the kitchen. Brown is greenery like grass, flowers and leaves. You have to do it in a specific way to make it, like a chef. You stack the brown and green in layers and top it off with water, fungi and bugs.

The benefits of composting

When you recycle you are saving the earth, growing more plants to eat and recycling rubbish!

Wow Facts!

You can compost with cockroaches, it has been used for cooking usually after being well wrapped in foil, and best of all, Cleopatra was so impressed with worms' composting ability, she made them sacred!

Today for Inquiry we were doing The Amazing Race. The Amazing Race is a series of challenges about NZ. My family did all of them and got 29 points. The highest! We had to do things like stack books to blowing paper off the table! I enjoyed playing because my siblings were all having fun. I found it tricky to blow the paper because when I blew the paper, it flew further than I expected. So I tried breathing in short bursts and the short bursts worked! Here is my slide:

Kereru and Magic Jawbone

This week for reading we are learning to apply knowledge. I made a statue of a Kereru and a Magic Jawbone from a Maui book we read. It was about how Maui found his Mum but wanted to see his Dad who his Mum goes to everyday without Maui. So Maui went with her and saw her going down a deep hole so he flew down as a Kereru. He saw his Dad in the hole. He saw his Great Grandad too. Maui bring food to him everyday until he wanted his Great Grandads Magic Jawbone and hid his food until he gave it to him. Maui's Great Grandad gave it to himn and that is what he pulled NZ out of the water with. I enjoyed listening to the story because it was a really cool story. I found it tricky to make the statues because they turned out huge! Here is my slide:

Faith and Trust

This Week for R.E we were learning about Faith and Trust. We made a word cloud of a few synonyms of Faith and Trust. I enjoyed using word cloud because it was nice and easy to use. I found it tricky to find synonyms because nothing was coming up with nothing on Google. So I kept trying and answers finally came up. Here it is:

Cleaning the Car

This Week for P.E we were able to choose something to do. I chose washing the car. It turned out my sister had the same task and tagged along. The car was so dirty! It took a while because it kept getting more dirty. I made a collage out of 4 pictures my Dad took. I enjoyed choosing because I love having lots of things to choose from! I found it tricky to reach the top of the car because I am very short. So I found a step-stool and I could reach the top better. Here is my slide:

Scavenger Hunt

Today for Inquiry we were learning about Native NZ animals. It was called the scavenger hunt. I chose the Kōtare. Did you know that Kōtare pretty much never sit on the ground? I enjoyed learning about Kōtare because it was new learning for me. I found it tricky to find out some of the questions because I could not see the answers. So I searched the question up on the internet and the answer came up there. Here is my slide:

Great White Sharks

This week for reading I was learning to apply knowledge. We had to write about the anatomy of a animal we were assigned. I got a Great White Shark. Did you know that Great White Sharks are one of more than 450 shark species? I tried drawing it on Chrome Canvas and it worked. I enjoyed trying to make it because I thought that my idea would be very unique. I found it tricky to put on the writing because it hid behind the part that lets you pick your pen. So I just took a full screenshot. The one being hidden says snout just letting you know. Here is my Drawing:

Minecraft Education Edition Animal Habitats

Today we were learning about where animals live in the wild. We got to make Habitats for animals in minecraft education edition. I chose to eight animals and humans. I made sure I took a photo of everything I did. I used a minecraft portfolio to store the photos. I enjoyed building them because the animals I had lived in very cool places that the animals lived. I found it tricky to put in what the animals ate because some of them would eat them straight away like Wolves and Foxes they ate the bunnies as soon as I put them in the cage. So I put in bunny spawners. The spawners worked like a charm! The Portfolio won't let me put it in my blog so I will put a slide. Here it is:

Hiding in Plain Sight

Today we did a taskmaster task. It was called Hiding in Plain Sight. I was thinking of what to hide as and I saw the ball pit we own. I thought I should hide in it and emerge right out of it. It worked out perfectly. In the background was the TV playing Breaking News about Covid 19 so that is what you could hear. I enjoyed hiding because I could not see anything and it was really exciting. I found it tricky to fit because it was a small box. So I curled up into a ball and I fit a bit better. Here is a video:

This week for writing we have been learning how to make links between our paragraphs. We wrote about our favourite author. I chose Matt Stanton. Matt Stanton wrote the Funny kid series. Not much is known about him so I put what I could find. I enjoyed learning about him because there were lots of cool facts. I found it tricky to find his adulthood because my search results just came up with clothes. So I searched up life and it showed up more information.

Today we were learning about Mary's assumption into Heaven. It was where Jesus took Marys Body AND soul into heaven. We had to listen to the story and then we had to find some words about it and use word cloud to put the words on. I did a gradient of blue and green for the background so the words stand out a bit better. I enjoyed that it was simple and not very complicated because it did not take as long as I expected it to.
