Kowhaiwhai pattern

Today for summer learning journey I had to make a kowhaiwhai pattern. My kowhaiwhai pattern represents my four siblings. Tanerore is the son of Tama-nui-te-ra. He represents the shimmering air with his wiri wiri. A wiri wiri is used in a haka for shimmering sun.
I enjoyed making the pattern because I just needed to make one then copy and paste.
It was hard to make a background because i don't really know how to put a background on google drawings.
Here is my kowhaiwhai:

  1. Kia Ora Kylah,

My name is Zana and I am a blog commenter from the Summer Learning Journey.

I thought this activity was very interesting as it teaches you about Tānerore who you are able to see often on these hot summer days and about the infamous kowhaiwhai pattern seen throughout Māori culture. Could you share what you learnt about Tānerore?

Your Kowhaiwhai is beautiful and I like that you used the four patterns to represent your siblings, that is very nice and I am glad to hear that you enjoyed this activity. What app and tools did you use to create your pattern and what do you think you could do to extend on your work? Maybe adding your extended family or using different Koru shapes.

Keep up the great work and I hope to see more of your posts over the summer.

    Ngā mihi nui,
    Zana Yates

  2. Kia ora Kylah,
Wow! This is a beautiful pattern. I agree with Zana in that it would be good to know what you learned about Tānerore. I would also like to know what app you used to create your pattern and the shapes that inspired you.

    1. Kia ora Kylah,
Ka pai tō mahi! Good on you for editing the post.
I have used Google Drawings lots and am trying to work out how you did this to get the shapes all the same and joining together. I like the little koru that come off the sides.
Where do you think you could use this pattern?
