My Weather In A Bag Summer Learning Journey Rua Tekau Ma Toru

Today for Summer Learning Journey we had to make weather in a bag. We had to fill a snap-lock bag with water and add some food colouring. Then leave it in the sun for a few hours, taking a photo of its progress every hour.

The way it was meant to work is: it will heat up and the water will turn to vapour and cause condensation. Then it was meant to drip from the top causing the effect of rain.

I found it tricky to get the condensation to actually drip. I think this will of been better on a hotter day as today it was raining quite a lot.

I enjoyed looking for the changes every hour. It was quite fun waiting to see what happens next!

Thank you for reading my blog. Here are some slides with photos:

  1. Mōrena Kylah,

Great work with your explanation of this activity! You’ve done a lot of clever thinking about the water cycle.

It’s a shame the weather wasn't sunny enough for your weather in a bag to work properly! Maybe you’ll have to try it again when it's sunny.

Have you learnt about the water cycle before? I think it's so interesting how it all works!

I’m glad to hear you enjoyed this activity, what has been your favourite activity so far?

    Ngā mihi,
    Lauren
