Radial Balanced Flower Mandala Summer Leaning Journey Rua #2

Yesterday's Summer learning journey was to do a radial balanced flower mandala. I went straight to the step it up and did a stop motion so today I did the normal one because I like doing these tasks. Radial Balance means symmetry in several directions. No matter which way you look at it, it will look the same. Like if you look at an O on every side it will be the same!

I found it tricky to find flowers that were not rotten and dead because at the moment there is a storm where I am in Gisborne! It's Bruising the flowers and killing them.

Next time I would add more flowers to make it more detailed and bigger.

Thank you for reading my blog and here is my photo:

  1. Kia ora again Kylah,
What an awesome image you've created. I love that you were enthusiastic enough to want to continue, even though you'd done the advanced task already. Good point about the flowers. Wow it is windy and wet in Gisborne today, isn't it!?
I really enjoyed the extra information you gave us about the radial symmetry. Using an "O" as an example was really clever. I really like how you've used the dandelion leaves too... they are really effective and a beautiful colour and add different shapes to your design. Next time, maybe you could experiment with different backgrounds too, to see what looks most effective underneath.
    Keep up the great blogging,
    Kōka Amie

  2. Kia ora Kylah!

    Charlotte here from SLJ!

I just watched your stop motion from the Step It Up task! Great work on giving this one ago as well!

Thank you for explaining radial balance to me! I think you did well creating that symmetry in your mandala. Did you find it tricky to make it symmetrical?

It is such a shame about all of the poor flowers getting buised in the weather! Did you brave the outdoors to get the flowers? I am on the West Coast of the South Island at the moment, and the flowers are definitely getting bruised here as well. Summer, come back!

There are some new activities you can complete on the Summer Learning Journey blog page. Give them a go!

    Ngā mihi nui,
    Charlotte :)
