Dam that works

Today for my summer learning journey I had to make a working dam. I decided to do this while camping. I made it out of wet sand, shells, rocks and seaweed
We build them to stop flooding and sometimes we make them to create energy. These are called hydro dams or hydroelectricity.
I liked making the dam because it was the easiest bit.
It was hard to keep the dam up because the waves kept whacking against it.
Here is my slide deck:

  1. Kia Ora Kylah,

My name is Zana and I am a blog commenter for the Summer Learning Journey.

This activity was fun as you had to put on your thinkers cap and find materials that are natural and sturdy enough to form a dam, using beavers as inspiration is a great idea as they are natures dam builders!

I think your design looks great and sturdy and based on your video, it looks to be a success so great job!!! Your google slide shows your design well and the materials you used are very easy to access and sturdy against water.

What was your favourite part about this activity and if you were to redo it how would you improve it?

Keep up the great work and I hope to see more of your posts over the summer.

    Ngā mihi nui
