Super Seesaw!
Today for the summer learning journey I had to make a super seesaw out of a wooden spoon, some string, a toilet roll and a ball of paper. Nano girl gave us this task too! Did you know that a seesaw is an example of a lever? I learnt that you only need one finger to make it go! This was quite hard because the string kept rolling off. Did you know that I enjoyed making the wevideo because there was lots of backgrounds I could choose from so I chose three of my favourites. It was tricky to hit the spoon and make it go far because I taped it to the ground. So I thought, I should use my poi rakau stick! Then I held it down with my foot and it worked! It went so high! Next time I would make a target for it to hit so I could see how well it worked.

Awesome Kylah, I can see you enjoyed yourself today!
ReplyDeleteI am impressed how you problem solved this activity. What inspired you to use a longer stick?
Great work editing your video too. Your narration combined with the low camera angle and inserting callouts is really effective. Well done.
Enjoy the last week of the Summer Learning Journey,

I noticed the toilet roll had a hole in it and thought that I should put something heavy in it so I looked around and saw my poi rakau stick. I held it down with my foot and it worked way better.

Kia ora Kylah,
ReplyDeleteFiona here from the Summer Learning Journey team. I really enjoyed watching the awesome WeVideo you made all about your super cool seesaw! The background music in your video is so catchy and entertaining and your video is so well edited.
You have done a great job testing your initial seesaw design and then improvising it with your great idea of using a long poi rākau to keep it in place. So clever! Did you try and launch any other objects from your seesaw that were a bit heavier than paper? I wonder if they would catapult further.
Keep up the awesome blogging and learning!
Mā te wā,
Fiona (SLJ).
