Today for my summer learning journey I had to make a sundial out of cardboard. This is how people in the old days knew the time when there was no such thing as clocks. Nano Girl gave us this task too. I now know that when it is 12:00 it does not show a shadow because the sun is right above it.
I liked making it because it was the easiest bit.
It was hard to mark it because the shadow was really short.
Here is some pictures:
Kia Ora Kylah,
ReplyDeleteMy name is Zana and I am a blog commenter from the Summer Learning Journey.
How exciting is it that we are onto our next Nano Girl activity, I am starting to see a pattern in her activities and that is that they are all about summer and summer safety!!
Sun dials are a great way to tell the time and were used all around the world back before we relied on technology and clocks to help us tell time. I think your sundial looks awesome and functional and I like that you include an image of you in the process of making it as well as the end result. Did your sundial work?
If you were to remake your sundial what improvements would you make?
Happy Holidays, Keep up the great work and I hope to see more of your posts over the summer.
Ngā mihi nui,

I would make my sun dial so that it was stuck to a pole or something if I was to make it again. I have four siblings and it got knocked a few times accidentally by them and it may not have been in exactly the same place again when I put it back which could make the time out when I was making the markings. Have you ever made a sun dial?
